BBC News Background
The British Broadcasting Company, also known as BBC News, was founded on October 18, 1922 by Guglielmo Marconi in London, England. BBC News is proven lawful by the Royal Charter, which outlines the purpose of BBC News and makes it a more credible source.
With their first live broadcast taking place on November 14 of 1922, BBC News became the first company to broadcast news in England, starting out with only four members of the team.
One BBC member named Arthur Burrows was the first to read a bulletin on the air. He read the same bulletin at 6 o’clock and at 9 o’clock, both at different speeds. He did this to see what the audience preferred. Eventually however, daytime bulletins were dismissed due to their possible clash with newspapers.
BBC News’s first bulletins had to do with recent events in British government, entertainment, crime, etc.
BBC now has different branches in places such as England, Canada, Scotland, the US, and many more. This is so they can provide news to people in different places with different situations and events.
